چکیده

Our effort towards the attainment of high performance devices has yielded several devices with total-area conversion efficiencies above 16%, the highest measuring 16.8% under standard reporting conditions (ASTM E892-87, Global 1000 W/m’). The first attempts to translate this development to larger areas resulted in an efficiency of 12.5% for a 16.8~cm2 monolithically interconnected submodule test structure, and 15.3% for a 4.85-cm* single cell. Achievement of a 17.2% device efficiency fabricated for operation under concentration (22-sun) is also reported. All high efficiency devices reported here are made from graded bandgap absorbers. Bandgap grading is achieved by compositional Ga/(ln+Ga) profiling as a function of depth. The fabrication schemes to achieve the graded absorbers, the window materials and contacting will be described.

One-Step Electrodeposited Cu-In-Ga Thin Films and Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Absorber Synthesis for Solar Cells

Cu-In-Ga electrodeposition on Mo substrate is carried out in acidic aqueous media. Subsequent selenization leads to Cu(In,Ga)Se2 absorber for thin film solar cells. First, conditions to achieve onestep Cu-In-Ga electrodeposition are analysed. Then, Cu-In and CuGa systems are studied. Cu-In electrodeposition is realized under diffusion-control conditions. For Cu-Ga system, first Cu(II) diffusion...

Compositionally Graded Absorber for Efficient and Stable Near‐Infrared‐Transparent Perovskite Solar Cells

Compositional grading has been widely exploited in highly efficient Cu(In,Ga)Se2, CdTe, GaAs, quantum dot solar cells, and this strategy has the potential to improve the performance of emerging perovskite solar cells. However, realizing and maintaining compositionally graded perovskite absorber from solution processing is challenging. Moreover, the operational stability of graded perovskite sol...

IUPAC Development of new buffer layers for Cu ( In , Ga ) Se 2 solar cells * Byung

Recent progress in the field of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin film solar cell technology is briefly reviewed. New wide-bandgap Inx(OOH,S)y and ZnSx(OH)yOz buffers for CIGS solar cells have been developed. Advances have been made in the film deposition by the growth process optimization that allows the control of film properties at the microand nanolevels. To improve the CIGS cell junction characteri...

High Efficiency Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Flexible Solar Cells Fabricated by Roll-to-Roll Metallic Precursor Co-sputtering Method

We report on a Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cell fabricated on flexible stainless steel substrate by a low cost mass production roll-to-roll process. Fabricated device has a high energy conversion efficiency of 14%, with short circuit current density (Jsc) of 36.6mAcm 2 and open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.55V. A two-dimensional (2D) simulation model for CIGS solar cell design and optimization was ...

Investigation of defect properties in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells by deep-level transient spectroscopy

The performance of the chalcopyrite material Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) used as an absorber layer in thin-film photovoltaic devices is significantly affected by the presence of native defects. The deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) technique is used in this work to characterize the defect properties, yielding relevant information about the defect types, their capture cross-sections, and energy l...
